Following a successful pilot in November 2018, the Manx Leaders programme was officially launched last week, with over 90 locals attending workshops.

The not for profit programme was founded by three local entrepreneurs; James Quinn, Gary Peirce and Karl Bovenizer. The vision for their ‘Manx Leaders’ programme is to “change the nation for better, one person at a time”. Workshops are based on the teachings of performance and leadership expert, Robin Sharma. The trio have all implemented Sharma’s leadership philosophy and say it has had a ‘profound effect’ on their lives and businesses and as a result, they were inspired to make Robin’s training accessible to everyone on the Isle of Man. Sharma himself is a leader in his field. He has racked up 150 million book sales and works with some of the most successful companies in the world including Nike, Microsoft, PwC and NASA. The men behind the programme have brought in professionals from the other side of the world to launch their vision on the Island. At the helm of each workshop are two Aussies experts, Grahame Gerstenberg and Danette Fenton-Menzies. We had a brew with them to find out more about their grand plans for improving the Isle of Man.

G’Day, how did you guys end up on our little rock?

Danette: We met Gary and James at a Robin Sharma event in Canada. Grahame and I have both worked with Robin extensively for a number of years. When James, Gary and Karl shared their vision for the Manx Leaders programme, we immediately wanted to be involved. We were both fascinated by the Isle of Man and the concept of transforming a nation.

Tell us more about the workshops you are running…

Grahame: Ultimately, we want to encourage people to think differently about what is possible for them. We want to support people on the path to becoming the best version of themselves. We blend mindset coaching with evidence-based neuroscience to educate our students. Our students leave with practical tools and plans that can be implemented immediately; we provide as much or as little support required following the workshop. Our courses are designed to help individuals build better self-awareness, this ultimately helps them shift their thinking so they can lead more positive lives.

You travel the world with your work, what do you make of the Isle of Man?

Dannette: We love the Isle of Man, it’s an incredibly beautiful country. People are friendly and the pace of life is perfect. Having the opportunity to run workshops in the Isle of Man is particularly exciting to us; being a relatively small community, we look forward to seeing the ‘ripple’ effect start. We encourage everyone we work with, to use what they learn to help others as well as themselves.

Is the programme for leaders and managers only?

Grahame: Absolutely not! It’s not just for CEOs, entrepreneurs and managers, the programme is for anyone who’d like to be the best version of themselves.

What is next for the Manx Leaders Programme?

Danette: We have an informal “Fireside Chat” meeting 4.30-5.30 p.m. Tuesday 29th at Eagle Labs on Victoria Street. This is an open invitation to anyone from the Isle of Man who would like to come along and find out more about our work and why Manx Leaders is such an important opportunity and how it can help you and your business. We’ve just launched our website which we’ll be posting regular updates to.And our next workshops are scheduled for May this year when we will once again return to the Island to support this initiative.

We’d encourage anyone interested to chat to Gary, James and Karl in the meantime at hello@manxleaders.comvar bannersnack_embed = {“hash”:”bdxpquxv0″,”width”:672,”height”:280,”t”:1554198404,”userId”:38193901,”responsive”:true,”type”:”html5″};// bannersnack_embed = {“hash”:”bvtm6f08h”,”width”:672,”height”:280,”t”:1550051219,”userId”:38193901,”responsive”:true,”type”:”html5″};//
