If ‘rona taught us anything, it’s that our carers have been under-appreciated for far too long.

The IOM Care Awards, however, are hoping to raise awareness of the amazing work that carers, local businesses and even members of your own neighbourhood do. The awards will highlight and celebrate the huge variety of different types of carers we have on island, both professional and otherwise.

The categories are as follows:

  • Young carer under 11

  • Young carer 11-17

  • Community – group or individual who has done something for the community

  • Good neighbour

  • Disabled – a disabled member of your community who has given support to others

  • Transport – an individual or organisation

  • Charity – support provided by a charitable organisation

  • Professional carer – residential or care home

  • Professional carer – domiciliary

  • Business contribution

  • Registered care professional

  • Supportive pet

So if there’s someone who has been outstanding in your local community over the last 12 months – be it shopping for you in iso, giving you lifts so you don’t have to try and park in Douglas or supporting you in times of need, you can nominate them here: http://www.iomcareawards.com/nominate

Alternatively, nomination forms can be found at Shoprite stores across the island.

Nominations close on the 14 October with awards announced on November 4th, so get nominating!

(PS: Please be sure to get nominee consent before you nominate, that’s the rules!)
