New flight routes

While holidays may feel like an absolute fantasy at the moment, Loganair have announced three new island routes for their summer schedule. From May, Loganair will be introducing a service from Southampton and Belfast city, plus a seasonal service to Jersey until late September. 

Loganair will also be introducing another daily flight to Heathrow from late March, and on 1 April, they will introduce another daily flight to Manchester and reintroduce their flights to Edinburgh and Birmingham.

Beast from the East may make a return to the UK

What’s the point of a snow day when you’re locked down anyway? Meteorologists are expecting the return of the Beast from the East this week. Luckily, the island shouldn’t be affected too badly, with snow largely expected to fall in the North East. Regardless, it looks like we should all be wrapping up!

Food box scandal in the UK

Opposed to vouchers, the UK government has given out food boxes to families who would usually receive free school meals. While the boxes are supposed to be worth £30, the boxes are severely lacking. In a tweet, one box meant to last 10 days only supplied 2 potatoes, a can of beans, 8 cheese singles,a loaf of bread, 2 carrots, 3 apples, 2 soreen bars, 3 frubes, some pasta and a tomato. There has been widespread condemnation of these boxes, including from Manchester United player and anti-poverty campaigner Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United to play Liverpool in the FA cup
