On the 23rd December 2020, Nicola Scambler passed away after a four year battle with cancer, bravely borne. Nicola was only 37, a wife to Andrew and mother to Archie, 10 and Millie, 7.

On Friday, 12th February, Nicola’s life was celebrated at a funeral service at St Ninian’s. The service, which was well-attended, saw friends and family share stories of Nicola. Nicola’s bright spirit was truly remembered, with her Dad, Paul Bell, and close friend, Lynsey Tobin, sharing both beautiful and hilarious moments that had everyone laughing. Moving words were also spoken by Nicola’s two young children; her close friend Sian Rose, who expressed her memories through a poem she wrote; Jessica Leyton read a poem over a voice recording and the words of Danielle Mayers, who lives in Dubai, were read by her brother-in-law . To accommodate for friends across the water, the funeral was streamed online. At one point, they had over 120 people streaming.

During her battle, Nicola received care from The Royal Mardsen Hospital in London. In the last few months, she was under the full-time care of an incredible team of doctors and nurses. In lieu of flowers, the family wanted to thank the nurses and doctors at the hospital. They set up a JustGiving page, with an initial target of £2000. So far, they have exceeded the total by an incredible amount, having raised over £32,000.
