Knockuskey Cottage at Niarbyl

Charity Beach Buddies has been spending time giving the famous Knockuskey Cottage at Niarbyl a spring clean and a new paint job, but they need some help.

A post on their Facebook page said: ‘Recent storms have taken their toll on the roof and we are in need of someone with roofing expertise who could perhaps give us some advice/time to repair damaged slates. It’s not a huge job, but finding the correct type of slates might be more difficult.’

You can contact Beach Buddies on their Facebook page.

Simon Coveney said he preferred ‘engagement’, but the UK government was driving the EU towards legal action. The grace periods mean procedures and checks are not yet fully applied.

Campaigners have raised privacy concerns but one retail expert said the opening marked a ‘watershed moment’.
