The island’s vaccinators have today completed the final vaccinations for care home residents.
Residents at Springfield Grange were the final group to receive their second jabs with the vaccinators delivering 36 doses today.
A gov statement said: ‘This is a really important achievement in the protection of the most vulnerable members of our community.’
Sally Murray, 84, who lives in Southlands home in Port Erin was one of 33 residents and six staff who had their jab back on January 18 when the care home programme began.
Sally, who has lived at Southlands since 2018, also became the first person in the island to receive the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. And now, two-and-a-half-months later, all care home residents have now been vaccinated.
On having the vaccination Sally said: ‘Is that it? Everyone who can should have the vaccine. This will help not only me but everyone else and I feel very lucky to be getting the first one.’
