The police have confirmed that armed officers who closed off Strand Street have now been stood down.
Officers had blocked off a large section of the island’s capital earlier today.
A statement said: ‘This morning Police responded to a threatening message that had been passed on to them. As a result Officers, including armed units, were deployed to the area of Strand Street. The public were asked to avoid the area.
‘These actions were taken as a precautionary measure whilst the threat was assessed. Following enquiries we are satisfied there is no risk to the public and Officers have stood down. We thank the Public for their assistance.’
