Karl Reaches Halfway Point in Kayak Bid

A man kayaking around the island in memory of his brother has reached the halfway point.

Karl Staniford is kayaking around the coastline to raise money for three local charities in memory of his brother Cameron who tragically took his own life nearly two years ago aged just 20.

Having set off with the goal of raising £3,000, Karl has already raised over £6,000 which will be divided between three charities.

The charities Karl chose to support are Isle Listen, which provides early intervention awareness assemblies in schools as well as one on one support and workplace training to encourage supportive working environments, Quing, the peer led charity which supports people through their trauma and Cruse Bereavement Care.

On his Just Giving page, Karl said: ‘Cruse Bereavement Care – helped me through the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Among overwhelming caos *Cruse provided words required to delicately explain to our children they would not see their uncle again. They helped my children and many others understand grief and cope with loss. We cannot thank them enough.’
