As the island prepares to reopen on Monday morning, a Tynwald committee will begin to look into how we ended up in Lockdown 3.0.
The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee has announced it will be taking evidence from several key figures across health and education as it looks at the decisions that were taken between the second and third lockdown.
Starting at 10.30am, the committee, chaired by Onchan MHK Julie Edge, will hear from Education Minister Dr Alex Allinson, Health Minister David Ashford, DESC chief executive Graham Kinrade, DHSC interim chief executive Kathryn Magson and Director of Public Health Dr Henrietta Ewart.
Also appearing will be the island’s most senior civil servant, Chief Secretary Will Greenhow, whose role in the Steam Packet debacle remains under question and will not doubt be explored by the committee which also includes Garff MHK Martyn Perkins and Peter Greenhill MLC as members.
A decision has yet to be taken as to whether the committee will sit physically in the Legislative Council Chamber or remotely via MS Teams. Either way it will be possible to hear the evidence via the “live and listen again” audio webcast service on the Tynwald website here.
