One of Laxey’s most popular restaurants, La Mona Lisa, could soon be offering al fresco dining if planners back its owner’s planning application.
Serendipity Ltd has applied to convert a rear courtyard into a partially covered seating area to allow it to serve food and drink outdoors. The plans also require an existing window to be replaced with a door which the company said would help with flood prevention as the access door would be higher than it is in its current location.
Outside the owners are seeking to install a decked area with fencing and a pergola roof and retractable canopy.
In its application, the company said: ‘Due to covid, the government are encouraging the hospitality industry to mitigate risks by using outdoor areas. This area would allow us to offer outside seating to anyone vulnerable who would not be comfortable eating indoors.’
La Mona Lisa is on the corner of Glen Road and Minorca Hill. You can see full details of the planning application here.
