The Next Big Thing Champions Show, which had been re-scheduled due to the Covid pandemic has now been cancelled.
Intended to be a final ‘champions show’ the 2021 competition had been planned to feature the best of the best and the overall winner will be crowned ‘The Next Big Thing Champion’, taking home a £1,000 prize.
However, despite it being rescheduled for February next year, the show has been cancelled.
A statement from Junior Achievement said: ‘For the last eight years, Manx charity Junior Achievement has organised ‘The Next Big Thing’, the island’s premier talent competition for young people. We had planned one final Champions Show in February 2021, this was rescheduled to February 2022 due to COVID. It is with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the show for the foreseeable future. This event requires a significant amount of resources and financial outlay. Our charity cannot risk losing revenue in what has already been a challenging year for fundraising.
‘This show gave lots of young people a chance to showcase their talent and build their confidence. Some have even gone on to study performing arts. We want to thank everyone who has been a part of this amazing event for the last eight years including all of our sponsors, contestants, volunteers and audience.’
