The gov’s weekly Covid surveillance report shows the current seven-day average for confirmed positive cases is around 37, meaning the current overall trend of confirmed cases is decreasing.

Other key figures shows that the seven-day daily average test positivity rate is 9.2%.

The report adds that the percentage of PCR tests from the LFD pathway is levelling off, with percentage of UK Arrival tests decreasing over the last two weeks and that 71% of positive PCR tests are from the LFT pathway.

Also detailed is a possible link to the return to schools, as over the last week, the most confirmed positive cases have been in the 15 -19 age group, most of these cases are unvaccinated.
