A bid to oust the leader of Castletown Commissioners has been successful, in a meeting that apparently lasted less than five minutes.
The special meeting was called at the request of the majority of the board and a vote of no confidence in Chairwoman Carol Quine was moved by commissioner Jimmy Cubbon.
Newly elected MHK for Arbory, Castletown and Malew Tim Glover tweeted: ‘This evening @Castletown_IOM meeting – vote of no confidence in Chair passed in 4 mins – concerned as need to work together!’
In an email published on the Commissioners’ website, Mr Cubbon said: ‘I determine it necessary to call an extraordinary public meeting on Monday 27th October to discuss the position of the Chairman and the failure of the of the Chairman to respectfully reply to the boards request that she resign forthwith.’
Mr Cubbon said he would be proposing a vote of no confidence in Ms Quine if she failed to resign before the meeting.
He added: ‘Many members sought transparency as a key element in their manifestos and a failure to acknowledge a majority decision by fellow board members is unacceptable and non democratic.’
