Juan Watterson has been returned unopposed as Speaker of the House of Keys for the next five years.
Mr Watterson SHK, had served in the role since 2016.
Before electing Mr Watterson, MHKs first had to pick an acting speaker, which weirdly led to a vote as three people were put forward.
Mr Watterson was then elected unopposed following a nomination speech by Health Minister David Ashford who praised his skill in the role over the last five years. He was seconded by Lib Vannin leader Lawrie Hooper who joked that as one of his constituents had said to him on Election Day ‘sometimes it’s better the devil you know’.
