Post St Mary RNLI is benefiting from £1,000 that was raised by volunteers at a car wash and car boot sale.
Last Saturday the volunteer crew of Port St Mary RNLI donned their yellow wellies and turned their hands to car washing.
A spokesperson said: ‘For three hours there was a continuous stream of vehicles, looking to be made clean and sparkly, and whilst their owners waited, they were treated to refreshments kindly donated by Shoprite, as well as some delicious cakes baked by members of the station’s fundraising branch.During the morning the crew proved that no job was too big or too small for them, as they cleaned not only a motorhome but also a local boat!’
The total amount raised from the car wash was just over £600, and combined with the nearly £400 that was donated at the car boot sale less than a week before.
The spokesperson added: ‘The crew and fundraising branch of Port St Mary RNLI would like to extend a massive thank you to the local community for their continued support in turning out for both events and making them so successful. The funds raised will help to provide our crews with the essential lifesaving equipment they require in order to keep saving lives at sea.’
