The island’s 31st Lieutenant Governor Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer has been formally sworn into office.
Wearing full military finery, Sir John was sworn in at Castle Rushen Courtroom in the presence of Tynwald members, the judiciary and other dignitaries.
The procession began in Castletown Square where school children waived Manx flags and Sir John saluted the crowd.
Sir John and his wife, Lady Philippa Lorimer, who has am extremely remarkable career in her own right, were then led into the Castle accompanied by, among others, Chief Minister Howard Quayle.
The Lorimers have replaced Sir Richard and Lady Diana Gozney at Government House whose time on the island saw a great prominence for the role than in many years due as a result of the Covid pandemic.
