The Palace Cinema will remain closed today but reopen tomorrow after this morning’s fire.
Fire crews were called to the cinema at about 9am this morning after reports of a fire.
A post on the cinema’s Facebook page said: ‘At 9am this morning, the fire service attended Palace Cinema to deal with an alarm call that was triggered by a minor fire in the filter of the Screen 2 boiler. The incident was quickly dealt with, and no damage was caused other than to the filter and its cover.
‘Due to the remedial work arising from the incident, we have unfortunately had to cancel the showing scheduled for today. The Cinema will be back in operation tomorrow, with additional showings scheduled for No Time to Die. We would like to apologise to customers impacted by the issue and assure them that we will offer rescheduled bookings at the earliest possible time.’
