Work will get underway on today to upgrade the surface water drainage system in the dip opposite St Trinian’s church. The work will involve replacing the current piped drainage system to deal with ongoing drainage issues that impact on the road and nearby housing. The scheme is expected to take about eight weeks to complete and for much of the scheme it will be necessary to control traffic with temporary traffic lights (on a 24/7 basis). The road will be restricted to 30mph whilst the project is underway.
The work here was due to start here about a fortnight ago, but it was decided by the gov to pause it while other roadworks were underway in Crosby.

Officers at Ramsey Police Station are currently investigating a number of suspected linked incidents that occurred from 11pm onwards on Friday November 5, in the Ramsey Town Centre area. Police received a number of calls in quick succession, initially outlining an incident on West Quay; during which a group of persons were reportedly lighting fireworks close by to the swing bridge, before ultimately coming into conflict with a number of other persons in the area at the time. A few minutes later, a male and female were reportedly assaulted by a group of males on Queens Promenade.
A police spokesman said: ‘It would appear that these incidents are linked, and that the persons instigating the conflict in both locations stated are one and the same. Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the incidents in question and ask in addition to this that, should you have any information that may be helpful to Police in this inquiry, that you make contact with staff at Ramsey Police Station in person, or on the telephone (01624 812234) to assist. Officers are particularly interested in speaking with a group of male cyclists, who were believed to be in the area at the time of both incidents. This group of cyclists is described as being comprised of around 20 males, aged between 30 and 50 years of age. The group is believed to have travelled from Ramsey to Laxey immediately following the events.’
Everyone’s favourite super villain was back in action this weekend as Elon Musk asked Twitter whether he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock. Ok, so there’s more to it than that, it’s actually in response to a plan by Democrats to introduce a new tax. The plan could see Mr Musk, who is one of the world’s richest men, face a huge tax bill. Under plans proposed by the Democratic Party in the Senate, billionaires could be taxed on ‘unrealised gains’ when the price of their shares goes up, even if they do not sell any of their stock.
Musk added: ‘I will abide by the results of this poll, whichever way it goes.’ He later said: ‘Note, I do not take a cash salary or bonus from anywhere. I only have stock, thus the only way for me to pay taxes personally is to sell stock.’
