With no weekend game, meaning no nervously following it on Twitter like a modern day teletext, FC Isle of Man are back at the Bernabowl this week as they welcome Maine Road to the island.
The Manchester based side were the first team Chris Bass’ side played in the North West Counties League Division One South all the way back in July when the sides had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Frank Jones scoring the for Fc Isle of Man.
Since then, The Ravens, who admittedly took a few weeks to find their feet (or wings) have won 13, drawn four and lost three to find themselves well placed in the playoff positions in fourth.
For Maine Road, who are 11th, their season has been one of ups and downs, winning eight and losing 10, their only draw was that first game against the Manxmen. However, they are in pretty good form, wining four of their last six and scoring 19 goals along the way.
The Ravens will of course be without Lee Gale this week, after he saw red during last week’s 2-1 win over Rocester for an off the ball incident and while there are a few others with knocks, the squad’s depth will still ensure a strong team and bench for Saturday.
Last week saw a Ravens record crowd of 2,122 filling the Bowl and with the weather for Saturday looking fairly good, Bassy’s men would love to see that beaten this week.
For our part, Gef will be providing updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram throughout the night for those who can’t make it down.
Kick off is the familiar time of 6.30pm, gates open 5.30pm and tickets are on sale here.
