Castle Rushen High School will reopen as normal this morning following a hoax bomb threat yesterday afternoon.
At around 4pm on Tuesday a person had telephoned the school stating that a bomb was on the premises.
A police statement said: ‘Most pupils had left the school at this time and a very small number of pupils and staff evacuated to a safe location. An investigation took place and a person was very quickly identified as having made a hoax call. That person, who is local to the island, has been spoken to by officers and will be dealt with appropriately.’
They added that as this is an ongoing investigation, they cannot comment further at this time. This is of course the second incident of its kind in recent months after a similar hoax threat was made at Willaston Primary School back in September.
