Swagelok Ltd has submitted two planing applications for the redevelopment of the Vehicle and Driving Test Centre in Tromode.
The test centre is moving to a new site on Ballafletcher Road, with completion believed to be due in the next year.
Swagelok says it has made the two applications as it wants to ‘keep its options open’ to ensure that any development would meet their business plans.
The first application (21/01368/B) would see the demolition of the existing test centre, with it being replaced by a new building with associated offices, meeting rooms, assembly and test area with laboratories and quality control area as well as a warehouse and plant/meter room. The company would then occupy the new building with existing and new employees which would ‘alleviate pressure on floor space in their existing facility and potentially provide additional floor space for increased manufacturing in the future’.
The alternative (21/01369/B) would see the building retained but refurbished with an extension added to accommodate a new entrance and the offices and other plans outlined above.
