An FoI has revealed that the total annual salaries for the board of Manx Care comes to £1,255,491.36. However this excludes costs such as NI and pensions, as well as the cost of transporting and accommodating members who are based off island.
Don’t Meet the Ministers
The ‘Meet the Ministers’ events that were due to take place tomorrow (Tuesday 7 Dec) have been postponed due to the yellow weather warning. The North and West ‘Meet the Ministers’ events were due to take place at Ramsey Town Hall and the House of Manannan to provide the public with an opportunity to discuss and feedback on the Island Plan. A decision has been taken to postpone these two events until January 2022.
A different FoI has also revealed that the we the taxpayer now own 55 Mercedes Sprinter mini buses. The DoI said that the most recent quote (as of November 23) is £74,822 each. This means the current fleet, based on this price, would have cost us £4,170,210. These buses are generally sold on buy auction after seven years or 100,000 miles.

What Is Putin Doing?
Intelligence shared by the USA has reportedly convinced its EU and Nato allies that Russia may intend to invade Ukraine. Russian forces have been massing on the border with Ukraine in recent weeks in large numbers, prompting concerns among some that Vladimir Putin will authorise an invasion. US president Joe Biden has said he will make it ‘very, very difficult’ for Russia to invade its neighbour.
Why Was Arthur Failed?
Work on a national investigation into the death of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes is to begin immediately, the UK’s education secretary has said. The government had already pledged a review over the boy, six, tortured and killed by his father and stepmother. Speaking in the House of Commons, Nadhim Zahawi said the whole nation was distraught at Arthur’s death. He said he was determined to uncover what went wrong and take action to protect children. Following a campaign of cruelty, Emma Tustin delivered a fatal head injury to Arthur at her home in Solihull, West Midlands, during lockdown in June last year.
