Manx Utilities workers have returned to the island this morning after being seconded to help their colleagues in England.
Crews have been helping support electricity utilities in Cumbria to restore much needed electricity supplies following the devastation caused by Storm Arwen following a call for help from the electricity consortium group (NEWSAC).
A Facebook post said: ‘We are extremely proud of our team who have been helping to restore electricity supplies in Cumbria.’
Don’t forget about the Yellow and Amber weather warnings in place today, this had lead to parking on the Douglas promenade walkway being suspended and some roads closed.
The affected roads are Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey promenades from 12pm to 4pm.
A giant Christmas jumper has been created for a Tyrannosaurus Rex at London’s Natural History Museum. The animatronic T.rex is sporting the festive knit, which has been made by a family-run firm in Leicester. British Christmas Jumpers has previously produced sweaters for Ed Sheeran and the Houses of Parliament. Director Snahal Patel said the latest design was the company’s biggest job yet and took staff 100 hours to complete.
There is community transmission of the Omicron coronavirus variant in multiple regions of England, Health Secretary Sajid Javid has confirmed. He told MPs the variant was continuing to spread ‘here and around the world’ and there were now cases here ‘with no links to international travel’. There have been 336 confirmed cases of the highly-mutated variant across the UK, he said, a rise of 90 from Sunday.
