After going off on their travels last week to Rocester, the Ravens are back on home soil (astro) this week, with an earlier kick off time of 5.30pm.
Being the last home game before Christmas, FC Isle of Man, in particular the 12th Man, is encouraging people to not only get down and support the lads, but to do so in style.
Whether it’s a Christmas jumper, hat, scarf, or full on Santa suit, show your support with something festive and send it to the 12th Man Facebook page.
Now, down to business. This week’s opponents Sandbach United have been tweeting about their excitement for coming to the island.
Currently sitting in seventh, Sandbach are two places and 10 points behind The Ravens and they aren’t exactly in great form either, having lost three of their last six in all competitions.
The first time the teams met back in the summer, FC Isle of Man had to come from behind to win, going behind in the first 30 seconds, so Sandbach know where the goal is and despite current form, have had a decent season.
There will be doubt that last week’s draw away at Rocester will have hurt the team, especially coming so late in the game. But, it wasn’t too long ago that a late late Furo Davies header sent the Bernabowl euphoric when snatching a 2-2 draw, so really it’s a case of what goes around comes around.
While last week’s draw, coming so late from the spot, was disappointing, Sean Doyle bagged himself another two goals and no doubt the home fans would love to the man on fire grab a couple again this week. Sean is still the top scorer in the league, but has seen his spot at the top of the overall scorers chart taken by Saul Henderson of Wythenshawe Amateurs. He only has 25 goals to Sean’s 26 in the league, but has scored more cup goals.
Apart from the usual injuries and suspensions, Bassy should have a good strength squad to pick from this week, so get your jumpers, scarves or elf costumes on and get down to the Bowl. For supporters of FC Isle of Man, you may have noticed an email this week which will give you a discount code for a certain jumper range, if you do buy one, don’t forget to tweet us at @GefMongooseIOM on Saturday night and let us see what you got.
Also don’t forget this week kick off is at 5.30pm not the usual 6.30pm!
