Beach Buddies is encouraging volunteers to brave the weather and take part in a ‘beach clean with a difference’ on New Year’s Day.
The charity is organising a beach clean, removing seaweed and as many dangers as possible ahead of the Douglas dip on Saturday.
This year’s dip features is not only being started by the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer and his wife Lady Philippa, the Lorimers have both decided they will be joining in the dip itself.
The dip will be raising funds for Breast Cancer Now and Beach Buddies.
Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale said: ‘Volunteers who can help are asked to be there for 10.30am to clear the beach in front of the Queen’s Hotel on Douglas Promenade. If you have garden tools such as a rake or fork that would be very useful. If you would prefer you can “rattle a bucket” to help raise funds.
And any of our volunteers who want to take part in the dip itself are more than welcome.’
To register for the dip, visit https://www.douglasdip.im and register online. Alternatively, you can print the form off and bring it with you on the day or forms will be available on the day.
