The Headteachers of Ballakermeen and Ramsey Grammar high schools have written to parents asking them to keep their children at home tomorrow and Wednesday.

Both schools are citing ongoing high levels of staff absences as the reasons behind the requests.

Ballakermeen head Adrienne Burnett has asked that Years 9 and 10 stay at home on Tuesday, with Year 10 also asked to stay home on Wednesday. Ramsey Grammar head Sarah Findlater has asked her school’s Year 9 students to stay at home for the next two days also.

Last week Ballakermeen and St Ninian’s were forced to ask students to work from home, with heads saying they have run out of options due to the high number of absences across the island’s high schools.
