Starting with some UK news for a change and whispers are emerging tonight with the UK’s political media that the 1922 committee is nearing the number of letters it needs to force a leadership challenge at the top of the UK gov. A leadership contest would be triggered if 15% of Tory MPs write to the chair of the powerful backbench 1922 Committee saying they no longer have confidence in Boris. There are currently 360 Tory MPs, meaning that 54 of them are needed to submit a letter to spark a confidence vote.

Faye Moffett will be stepping down from her role as Managing Partner with Appleby Isle of Man effective March 31 2022. She will be succeeded by Appleby Isle of Man Partner Mark Holligon who will take up the position as Office Managing Partner from April 1.

Scotland’s Covid-19 restrictions are to be eased, with nightclubs reopening, large indoor events resuming and social distancing rules dropped. The changes will take effect from Monday January 24 after a ‘significant fall’ in new case numbers. However people are still being asked to work from home and to take lateral flow tests before meeting with others. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told MSPs that Scotland had ‘turned the corner on the Omicron wave’.
