After an impressive 5-2 win over Cheadle Town last week, FC Isle of Man’s final January game sees Barnton coming to town as the chase for promotion rolls on.

Aside from one enforced change thanks to Matt Quirk’s suspension, Chris Bass was able to name an unchanged starting line up last week, so it will be interesting to see whether he chooses to stick or twist this week.

Last time the Ravens played Barnton, way back in October, it proved to be a fruitful away day as they ran out 6-1 winners which included two goals apiece from Furo Davies and Sean (man on fire) Doyle.

Since then, the Villagers have had a decent run which has seen them climb to 15th in the table, with their only defeat in the last six games coming against Stalybridge Celtic in a league game. You have to have to go back to November to find the last time they lost in the league and they have picked up points against some teams we’ve recently seen on the island recently including Sandbach, Wythenshaw and second place New Mills.

This game kicks off at 6.30pm, gates open at 5.30pm and tickets are available here.

Looking Away

Taking a rare look away from the Bernabowl, this week sees the only two teams above FC Isle of Man play each other as New Mills host West Didsbury and & Charlton. While it may seem unlikely that the Ravens will catch West Didsbury, who are eight points clear with a game in hand, New Mills are only three points ahead of Chris Bass’ side. So while Ravens fans will be keenly anticipating the game against Barnton, there will be a few wandering eyes looking at the score coming out of Derbyshire.
