Primary School Celebrates 40 Years

Jurby Community School will be celebrating 40 years in its current building in March this year.

The school was officially opened on Friday March 26 1982 by John Radcliffe, the MHK for Michael. Coincidently his daughter-in-law is now a teacher at the school.

To celebrate, the school is planning a number of events to celebrate this anniversary, including an open
afternoon on Wednesday March 23 from 2pm until 8pm.

Headteacher Will Nelson said: ‘During this time the school will be open for past pupils and staff to visit, and see how the school has changed over the years. Anybody who would like to come along to this event will be made most welcome.

‘The school is also planning an exhibition, showing how the school has changed over the last 40 years. If anybody has any photographs, or memories, of their time at the school, which they would be willing to share as part of the exhibition, these can be sent to the school using the e-mail address As well as photos we would be interested in stories and anecdotes of their time at the school.’
