Sam, a sleeping bag, Sir John Lorimer, Snaefell and the stars….What could go wrong?

On May 7 Gef is joining in with Breast Cancer Now for their Snaefell Sleepover and we’d love to have your support.

The sleepover will see volunteers and fundraisers spend the night under the stars with just a sleeping bag and an aim to raise £300 each for the charity.

As part of the evening we’ll be meeting the other sleepers, including the Lieutenant General Sir John and Lady Philippa Lorimer, at the Victory Cafe for a briefing from the Civil Defence before a two-course supper and a hike up the mountain to the summit.

Up on the summit, there is also a Party on the Peak, which the sleepers will join for a bit of a drink and live entertainment. After the pie and party, reality sets in that the ‘sleepover’ in on the side of a mountain 2,000ft above sea level

How You Can Help

On our part, we’re sending Kate and Sam up the mountain and they’ll be doing a bit of live streaming throughout the evening and the next morning, chatting to fellow sleepers, Civil Defence volunteers and showing off some of the stunning views from the island’s highest peak.

What we’d love you to do is support Breast Cancer Now by supporting Gef’s fundraising for the charity by donating via our Just Giving Page which will see your cash going to a great cause whose goal is to ensure that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and live well.

Kate Hegarty, AKA mother of Gef, said: ‘We’re really honoured to be asked by Angie Aire to get involved with such a brilliant charity while taking on a really unique challenge. We think it’s important that Gef not only helps to highlight the work of charities but gets involved and does our bit to help raise money for a great cause. Cancer affects almost every family on our island. We hope you’ll support our efforts in raising money for Breast Cancer Now.’

Sam added: ‘What do you mean I have to walk up!?!’
