Manx Contingent Sign New Sharks Deals

Two Manx rugby players have signed full time contracts with Sale Sharks, while a third has signed up to a dual university contract.

Harry Thompson, Patreece Bell and Aaron Pope all went through the Isle of Man Sale Sharks Development Player Programme and have represented the side’s under 18 side.

The trio have also represented Kirkham Grammar School where they are currently studying for their A levels  in the National Schools Cup Final at Twickenham last week.

The lads are very grateful to Chris Brannigan, IOM Sale Sharks DPP, Mr Aled Trenhaile, Head of Rugby Kirkham Grammar School and of course Sale Sharks Academy Team for their guidance and support on their pathway to professional rugby. 

Harry Thompson relocated to the Lancashire-based School when he was 15 years old to study for his GCSE’s and enable him to attend regular training for Sale Sharks Junior Academy. As well as representing Kirkham Grammar School he also represented Cheshire County.  Harry has signed a full time contract with Sale Sharks from July 2022.

Patreece Bell has also followed the same rugby pathway as Harry, through Sale Sharks IOM DPP  to Junior Academy arriving at Kirkham Grammar School to study for his A Levels.  Also representing Kirkham Grammar First Team and Cheshire County. He too has signed a full time contract from July 2022.

Aaron Pope has been at Kirkham Grammar since year 8, where he is now Captain of the First Team he went through the Sale Sharks Lancashire DPP programme and onto Junior Academy.  Aaron has represented Lancashire County, he has signed a Dual University Contract with Sale Sharks and Loughborough University.

In growing their careers with Sale, they are joining fellow Manxman Bevan Rodd. Rodd has two senior caps for England and made his debut against Australia before starting against world champions South Africa last year at Twickenham.
