Following a successful identification via social media, police are seeking witnesses to an assault which occurred at 10.15pm on Saturday April 9 on the junction of Castle Street and Senna Road, Douglas.

A 61-year-old man sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident and is currently receiving treatment off-island.

A statement said: ‘This most recent appeal is linked to our social media post on Sunday April 10 to identify the male suspected of the assault, from CCTV footage and we want to thank the public for their assistance in identifying that male, who was arrested on Sunday and has been bailed pending further enquiries.’

Police would urge anyone who has witnessed this incident, and has not already contacted Police or been spoken to by Police, to contact CID at Police Headquarters on 631212 or alternatively, people can give their information anonymously via crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
