President Laurence Skelly has welcomed BBC show the Antiques Road Trip to Tynwald this week as part of its filming of an episode on the island.

An easy way for the elderly to while away an hour or two with a comfy chair and bewildering conversation, Tynwald is the world’s oldest continuous parliament.

As well as visiting Tynwald, where Mr Skelly shared the history of Tynwald, as well as the Sword of State, which is one of the earliest objects to show the three legs in association with the island, the show has been filing in Port Erin, where it visited Cast Away Vintage and took a brief ride on the horse trams.

The show is due to be broadcast later this year.
