The car park on Lord Street will be closing from Monday, with parking moving back over the other side of the road to Parade Street East (back of the Steam Packet buildings).
The soon to reopen car park was used for border checks but with them no longer needed, the gov is turning that site back into parking as its lease agreement over the Lord Street site comes to an end.
Hopefully this will mean a start will soon be made on redeveloping the Lord Street site…
Saving Lives at Sea
Mark Dowie, the chief executive of the RNLI, has been on the island this week and took the opporuntity to present long serval medals to Morgan Guy and Mark Whiteley. Both men have served for 20 years with the RNLI.

University College Isle of Man (UCM) has appointed Caroline Walter as Employability and Skills Coordinator to help students prepare to enter the workplace.
This role aims to help students develop the vital skills required to achieve a career in their chosen industry, including CV design, interview techniques, the development of transferable and interpersonal skills for when they enter the workplace. These skills include team work, problem solving, communication, resilience, self-awareness as well as ability to learn.
Caroline commented: ‘I’m really excited to have joined the team at UCM and I’m looking forward to making a difference to the long term prospects of our students. At UCM we pride ourselves on assisting our students to gain the skills they need to transition smoothly into the workplace, so it’s a privilege to be a part of that.’
