The Southern Swimming Pool in Castletown is has reopened after being closed due to technical issues.

It hasn’t been a good year for the pool, which has faced financial difficulties and is being underwritten by the gov while a review into the island’s swimming pools is carried out.

A post on its Facebook page this morning said: ‘Due to plant technical issues the pool will be closed until further notice. More information to follow.

‘Apologies for any inconvenience.’

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover said the update was ‘not good news’.

However, this afternoon the pool posted to say it had reopened.

In March, the gov said it was to underwrite the regional pools for 12 months, enabling the pools in Castletown, Peel and Ramsey to continue to operate while it carried out a review.
