Port Erin Lifeboat Station has been chosen to represent the island as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this Thursday.

This will be one of thousands of beacons lit by communities, charities and different groups throughout the regions of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories.

You can watch the lighting in Port Erin from 9.15pm on Thursday at the Raglin Pier.

As well as the community beacons, there are also the Commonwealth beacons, which includes the one due to be set alight in Douglas, also on Thursday evening at St Ninian’s Church between 9.15pm and 10pm. That service to be opened by Douglas Town Band followed by an address from the Mayor with the Beacon to be lit at 9.45pm.
