Bakery’s Grand Plans for Peveril Building

Noa Bakery has submitted plans to take over the ground floor of the recently renovated Peveril Building in Douglas.

The application (22/00630/C) would see the bakery take over the south facing half of the ground floor of the building on Douglas’ Peveril Square.

In the application, Noa said the opportunity came about as the new tenant for the upper floor office areas expressed a desire to have a café and shop at ground floor level to serve its staff.

As well as this, the new space would also have a production facility which will be dedicated to their artisan products and have these more visible to the public once again. The business said in its application that the ‘shaping and proving/baking of sourdough breads and patisserie and the coffee roasting room would have large windows to the café and shop.’

It added: ‘The café area will have 2 members of staff in the serving area generally throughout the year with additional members of staff in peak seasons as required. The proposed working hours would be from 7.30 am to Midnight, running 5 days a week through out the year, excluding Christmas Day.

‘Allowance has been made for approximately 35 seats in the café area, with take-away service provision provided for food and non-alcoholic drinks. As was the case at Fort Street a Liquor licence will be applied for, so that events can be provided for on site in the evening.

‘The Bakehouse itself will have approximately six to 10 members of staff in the production area, with workings hours being from 4am to 4pm running seven days a week throughout the year, excluding Christmas Day.’

Deliveries will be daily during 8am to 4pm, with access via the carpark lane.
