A teacher has conquered her fear, as well as the cold Irish Sea, to raise money for the Red Cross’ work in Ukraine.
Amy Shelton, who has featured a few times on Gef in the recent weeks, held her sponsored dip this Saturday, off Fenella Beach in Peel.
As anyone will know when it comes to organising events on the island, the weather can be a cruel mistress, but fortunately for Amy, a small crowd of supporters gathered on the beach to cheer her on and the weather was perfect.
Ahead of the dip, she said: ‘It may not seem like much to many of you, but I am not a sea goer, and I am genuinely terrified of the things beneath the waves…. it makes me shudder.’
So far Amy has raised £300 on top of the over £1,200 already raised by herself and her students at Ballakermeen. You can donate to the fundraiser by clicking here.
