The fire service is asking people to take extra care to avoid outdoor fires.
It said it had seen a general increase in outside fires recently.
A post on Facebook said: ‘Crews were called this morning to reports of approximately 50m of hedgerow on fire in the Santon area. One major appliance attended and crews used high pressure hosereels and beaters to extinguish the fire. Staff from the Isle of Man Railways were quickly on scene with their fire train to initially bring the fire under control.
‘We have seen a general increase in outside fires recently and would ask that extra care is taken to avoid these types of incidents happening. Outside fires, or wildfires, not only damage the countryside but if not caught in time can put people, property and infrastructure at risk.’
