Pippa Lovell has been named as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Hospitality.
The list, compiled by CODE, breaks down women who have most influenced the sector in the last 12 months. CODE Hospitality is a community for the hospitality industry that champions the industry.
Pippa, owner and head chef of Versa, has been recognised for her dedication to quality and sustainability.
The forager, who sources her ingredients from the Manx countryside or, when needs must, from the most local of suppliers, is originally from Denmark and has embraced and added to our island life through her incredible nature and even more incredible food.
CODE said of her: ‘If you can’t find Lovell at her restaurant, it’s probably because she’s foraging for what to cook. She’s the chef-founder of Versa, an environmentally conscious restaurant on the Isle of Man, and Artea, a community arts gallery, café, and supper club. Anything she can’t forage for she sources from trusted local suppliers – a model that serves as an example for how to be uncompromising about both quality and sustainability.’
On Instagram, she added: ‘Absolutely gobsmacked and honoured to be included in this incredible list. As a small time, young(ish) chef whose every day purpose is to champion sustainability, make a change within the community and inspire/educate others to eat more sustainably or start a small business based on sustainable frameworks…… being recognised like this really does mean so so much and helps the cause! The seeds are spreading and all of these women really are truly inspiring.’
Her place on the list has also seen an outpouring of congratulations from islanders, can we just our own to that and say bloody well done Pippa!
