New Skatepark for Laxey?

Garff Commissioners has outlined its intention to build a new skatepark in Laxey.

The application (22/00823/B) is for a new site on the village’s Glen Road.

In its application, the local authority said that Laxey Commissioners, pre-merger, bought mobile lightly skateboard ramps in 2007 which lasted for about 12 years and when the authority surveyed residents in 2018, a new skateboard park was ‘the most requested item’.

If approved, the Commissioners would install equipment similar to that in Ramsey, aimed at the beginners/intermediate level.

The plans include a 1.1m half pipe, 1.1m platform, grind rail and flat wedge, all made of recyclable materials.

While consideration is to be given to neighbouring residents, the Commissioner say that in the last 10 years, they have only received one noise complaint.
