Food and Drink
The Food and Drink Festival will return to the Villa Marina Gardens in Douglas this September with people able to sample the finest creations from more than 70 local producers ranging from fizz and artisan breads to sausages and ice lollies. A number of new producers including Ventosus Micro Winery will also debut products alongside the usual mix of demonstrations, talks, food eating competitions and live music on September 17 and 18, between 9am and 5pm.
DEFA Minister Clare Barber said: ‘Every year the festival brings together the Island’s best producers and welcomes thousands of food and drink fans to learn all about them and try their creations. A huge thank you to Bally’s Interactive for sponsoring this event, as well as Magnet (IOM) Ltd who are supporting our Cookery Demonstration tent. These partnerships are vital to the festival’s success.’
Union Mills are looking to make a new permanent appointment to replace the previous combination manager who recently stepped down. The club has excellent playing facilities and a fantastic club house at Garey Mooar. Anyone who may have any interest in the role are asked to contact either Paul Guiver on 423081 or Steve Carter 464881.
Castletown Commissioners says it may need to close the Town Hall toilets outside of normal hours.
The authority said: ‘We simply do not have the resources outside of normal working hours to keep them in an acceptable condition given the ongoing behaviour of a small number of individuals. If you are aware that your son or daughter is regularly hanging out in the Town Hall foyer, please consider talking with them about the impact that such behaviour has on the wider community and the impression it leaves with those who choose to visit our town.’
