Would You Cycle to Work?

Published

on

Whether you’re into cycling or not, you can’t argue that the Isle of Man has got to be one of the most beautiful places to cycle (albeit a bit hilly!). Cycle to Work schemes are becoming increasingly popular, with local employers and employees alike opting to swap four wheels for two.

Just before International Cycle to Work Day, we spoke with the founder of Cycle 360, Mark Horsthuis, an avid cyclist himself, about how cycling to work leads to a happier, healthier lifestyle.

And as if feeling healthier wasn’t enough of an incentive, doing your bit for the planet and reducing your carbon footprint is an easy way to play your part in reducing energy emissions, all while getting the bike out and enjoying nature.

Whilst the Manx weather – not to mention the occasional hoolie – can sometimes be a deterrent, initiatives such as the Cycle to Work scheme, are successfully encouraging and incentivising people to incorporate active travel into their commute. So no matter how dusty your lycra is, there’s no time like the present to dig it out the drawer and get cycling (just keep your fingers crossed for half-decent weather). You can find out more about the scheme at Cycling | Isle of Man | Cycle 360 and for more information on everything green, visit https://www.energysustainabilitycentre.im/
