The nights are longer and Christmas is just around the corner (after bonfire night, of course!) so join in the local festivities like the true Manxie you are, yessir.Here’s your guide to the best events, pop-ups and things to do in the Isle of Man this November.
3 Nov – Douglas Fireworks Display
Where: Douglas Promenade     When: 7.15pm-20.00pm       Cost: FreeYour November on the rock begins with something for all the family, the Douglas fireworks display. At 7.30pm the bonfire will be lit then at 7.40pm the fireworks display, set to music, will be fired from a barge moored opposite the War Memorial.Watch the sky light up while enjoying food and drink from various catering outlets along the promenade.Find out more here.
4 Nov – Sayle Gallery Half-Term Workshop
Where: Sayle Gallery      When: 1pm-4pm       Cost: £10Looking for something crafty to keep the kids entertained this half-term? Why not let them get creative through artwork inspired by the sea and fishing at the Sayle Gallery.Children aged 8 years and above are invited along to the Sayle Gallery for a workshop exploring print-making, collage and drawing. Materials drawn from the beach and harbours will be provided to make marks, textures or impressions or to inspire drawing.Find out more here.
11 Nov – Isle of Man Gin Fest
Where: Noa Bakehouse       When: 7.00pm        Cost: £45We’ve hooked up with Roots Bev Co. and lewislewis for the first ever IOM Gin Fest event. Expect music, cocktails, food from the Noa Bakehoues gang, more garnish than you can shake a stick at and of course, gin! Clearly, we’re an island that L.O.V.E.S. gin, so for that reason we don’t have just one bar, not even two, we’ve got a whole damn five of them… We know right?!This event is limited to 120 people and is almost certain to be a sellout, so don’t delay in booking your tickets. 11 Nov – World Famous Hypnotist, Andrew Newton
Where: Gaiety Theatre                     When: 7.30pm                    Cost: £14.50World Famous Hypnotist Andrew Newton returns to the Gaiety Theatre for another night of side-splitting laughter. To date, he has hypnotised over 60,000 people worldwide, including many famous names in the UK and abroad.If you think the show it’s all about getting people to run round like chickens, think again! 12 Nov – Pound for Pink
Where: Warehouse Fitness          When: 10am-11am        Cost: £5Rock out to some awesome songs all in aid of a good cause. Pound is a cardio workout inspired by the energising fun of playing the drums. Get the feel good factor from releasing those endorphins knowing you’re doing your bit for charity.This Pound for Pink class is in aid of the Breast Cancer Support Group and takes place at Warehouse Fitness (a ladies only gym – sorry boys!).Find out more here.
16 Nov – Pregnancy Life Drawing
Where: Noa Bakehouse                     When: 7pm-9pm                 Cost: £5Take the unique opportunity to draw a model who’s 7 months pregnant. Bring your own favourite art supplies and paper to Noa Bakehouse for two hours of celebrating the miracle of life…drawing!Your host, Kim Gee Studio, will lead the group through different timed poses and a few drink breaks, and at the end of the night they’ll be plenty of opportunities to show off your creations. 21 Nov – Bonnag to Buggane: The Great Isle of Man Quiz 2017
Where: Bar George   When: 7pm    Cost: £5 per personBlock out your diaries now for the third edition of The Great Isle of Man Quiz, raising money for the Manx registered charity DO!Developing Orphans. DO! and its volunteers raise money for the vital education of orphans in northern Uganda. 23 Nov – Christmas Lights Switch On
Where: Town Hall, Douglas        When: 6.15pm-7.15pm        Cost: FreeYou know it’s officially the run-up to Christmas when the lights get switched on in Douglas. Lower Ridgeway Street will once again be the setting for an evening of family entertainment with seasonal music from Douglas Town Band, followed by a sneak preview of Aladdin – this year’s pantomime at the Gaiety Theatre.At 7.00pm Her Worship will switch on the Christmas lights, ‘snow’ will fall, Santa will be in his grotto on the corner of John Street, Thursday late-night shopping begins and Christmas comes to the capital.Find out more here.
24 Nov – Vegan Pop Up
Where: The Alpine Cafe     When: 7.30pm     Cost: £25The Alpine cafe has an emphasis on super fresh and healthy food with a relaxed vibe. They’re offering many pop up events throughout November, including a much anticipated vegan night.Everything is made with local Manx produce as far as possible and is designed to make you feel good. 30 Nov – Isle of Man Biomed 2017: Innovation
