The cosmetic restoration of a Manx steam engine has been nominated for a major award and you can help ensure it wins.
Volunteers from Isle of Man Steam Railway Supporters’ Association restored Number 5 Mona in preparation for her appearance at the 150th anniversary.
With their many hours recognised by the Heritage Railway Association, the restoration has been nominated, alongside nine others, for the highly coveted Steam Railway magazine award.
The Association said its members are ‘delighted and honoured to have been nominated, making the perfect start to the year, which will see the anniversary of the south line marked during this summer’s transport festival running from 30th July to 4th August’.
While the award would not only be great for the volunteers amazing work, it would also give some fantastic coverage to the island’s railways.
Also up for an award is the Manx Electric Railway’s restoration of trailer No. 19, however there is no public vote for that award.
Voting closes on January 18 and you can find out more about voting here.
