Corner Named After TT GOAT
There’s a new name on the TT Mountain Course – and it belongs to the most successful rider in the event’s history.
Just days before TT 2025 kicks off, organisers have officially named a previously anonymous left-hander on the Mountain Section ‘MD’s’, in honour of Michael Dunlop. The bend, just before the 27th milestone, marks the moment Dunlop smashed his uncle Joey’s all-time record with a 27th TT win in 2024. He’s since taken that total to 29.
Speaking at the unveiling, Michael said: ‘It is a real, genuine honour to have this happen, and it’s something I’m really proud of.
‘Anyone that knows me will know how important history and legacy is to me.
‘I’m definitely not one for the attention, and I think everyone knows I don’t really enjoy the spotlight, but to be recognised in this way is special and means a great deal to me.’
The Ballymoney racer now joins a legendary club with corners named after the likes of Giacomo Agostini, Mike Hailwood, John McGuinness and his uncle, Joey Dunlop.
As for what’s next? Michael says: ‘I’ve still got plenty of wins in me yet.’ Fair enough.
