Eve Aycock, age 26.
Job title or role in the community?
I’m a trainee advocate at M&P Legal.
In one sentence, summarise your journey so far as a young and successful person under 30.
I’ve travelled, studied, worked hard and learnt a lot.
Tell us about your industry; is there something interesting about it that most people wouldn’t expect?
Law is not all about courtroom dramas – mostly it’s under the radar and helps a lot of people solve their problems. Each day in the legal profession presents new challenges. I try to highlight the need to protect our environment, being in law helps to facilitate that.
Who are your role models, either on-island or off, in your sector or outside of it?
I take a lot of inspiration from athletes for their discipline and work ethic.
What, for you, are the benefits of staying on or moving back to the island for young people under 30?
Greater accessibility to decision-makers enhances the ability to make a difference.
What would you say to young people nominating themselves, or people nominating others, for 30 Under 30 in the future?
It’s a great initiative that can open doors – I would definitely recommend getting involved.
