This is a new one I stumbled across last weekend whilst liquored up on Christmas gin. It follows the story of Kristen Stewart who goes to her girlfriend’s house for the holidays. The snag is that her girlfriend’s parents don’t know she’s gay. And they’re also involved in local politics in an ‘appearance is everything’ kind-of-way.

It tells the classic tale of trying hide your true self because you’re worried of being ousted by your family but, in the end, it all comes out (literally) in the name of love. And because this is a rich, white, Christmas film, there are no terrible repercussions. Everyone is accepted with open arms and the family becomes stronger than ever. Don’t mind my cynicism, I genuinely really liked this film. AND it’s got a Christmas cracker of a cast that includes Alison Brie (Community), Daniel Levy (Schitt’s Creek), Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Rec), and Mary Steenburgen (Elf).
