Barclaycard Apologises for Mistake
It wrote to customers early this morning
Barclaycard has apologised to its customers after wrongly writing to them to say their accounts would be closed.
The credit card provider wrote to customers on the island and Channel Islands early this morning.
Having initially said that cards would stop working next month and accounts would close by July, Barclaycard has now said that the emails were sent by mistake.
A Barclays spokesperson said: ‘We offer our sincere apologies to any of our Barclaycard customers resident on the Isle of Man that may have been incorrectly informed that their accounts would be closed. We can confirm all existing cardholders resident on the Isle of Man will continue to be supported and there will be no change to the service they currently receive.’
However, while current customers are protected, any new customers must have a UK address, making it impossible for islanders to apply.
