Car Struck By Tram in Laxey

Published

on

There were some unexpected sparks in Laxey early this afternoon (Tuesday) after a car was struck by a Snaefell Mountain Railway tram on the A2 crossing.

A passenger onboard the tram told Gef that the incident happened as the tram was heading down from Snaefell back into the station.

The tram reportedly clipped a red car at the crossing, with some parts of the vehicle coming loose and falling into the road.

Thankfully, it appears to have been only a minor collision.

The driver of the car is said to be safe and well, and photographs sent to Gef show only small areas of visible damage.

Those onboard the tram were asked to remain seated while a quick clean-up took place, and all passengers are understood to be safe.

It’s currently unclear whether the tram itself suffered any damage.

Gef has contacted Isle of Man Transport for comment.
